Doris Marie Zona
Born Sept. 1, 1922 in Crown Point, New York, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012. She was 89.
Beloved wife of the late Frank L. Zona, Doris was the devoted mother of six children: Frank R. Zona of San Mateo, Suzanne Cornell of Bakersfield, Marilyn Gollihar (Michael) of Seaside, Joseph Zona (Ruth) of Scottsdale, AZ., Christopher Zona (Carolyn) of Poway, and Jennifer Fitzgerald (Vincent) of San Carlos; five grand-children: Carina Zona, Michael and Adam Gollihar, Jeremy Massey, and Joseph Fitzgerald; and three great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Rhys Gollihar and Makenzie Gollihar. Doris was the third of four daughters born to John and Prudence Babcock and is also survived by several nieces, nephews, god-children and many friends.
Doris was a loving and joyful person who filled her days caring for others--volunteering in many church and community-based organizations as well as owning and presiding over the Frank L. Zona Insurance Agency after his death. She'll be remembered for her welcoming demeanor, her delicious home-cooked meals, her love of the outdoors, and her strong devotion to her faith.
The family would like to give special thanks to Doris's loving caregivers Alana Fitzgerald and Daisy Rosario.
Rosary to be held on Friday, Jan. 27th at 7:00pm at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Burlingame. Funeral Mass on Saturday, Jan. 28th at 11:00am, St. Catherine Church, with reception immediately afterwards in the school auditorium. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma at 3:00 pm that same day.
