Tribute & Message From The Family

Evelyn Loschenkohl

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving husband Carl and their family on March 6th, 2012, at the age of 93. She was born in San Francisco on May 17th, 1918. Evie graduated from Balboa High School in 1935 and worked as a secretary in San Francisco for several years. In 1941 she married Carl, whom she knew from childhood.

Evie accompanied Carl to his Army posts, where she continued working as a secretary on the bases. They returned to San Francisco after World War II ended and later moved to San Mateo in 1957 where they lived for 55 years. Evie and Carl happily celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in July, 2011.

Evie and Carl enjoyed traveling around the world, ballroom and square dancing and playing bridge and golf. They were active members of the Elks Club, SIRS and the Peninsula Italian American Social Club and attended the Congregational Church in San Mateo for 50 years. Evelyn also participated in Catholic Charities, San Mateo Women's Club, the Kidney Foundation and the Music and Arts activities in the Congregational Church.

Evie is survived by her husband Carl, her daughter Cherie (husband David) and the late Susan Lee Loschenkohl. She was the cherished grandmother of Cristina Herrera (husband Gustavo) and Daniel Herrera (wife Franki) and a proud great-grandmother of Jana and Lia. She is also survived by her niece Joan Hutton (husband Ray), God-child Claire Pape (late husband Dean), and cousins, Adele Carney (late husband Larry) and Gerrie Jantzen (husband Steve).

Evie was thankful to her family, friends, neighbors and caregivers and the Mission hospice personnel for their love and dedicated care.

Evie will be remembered as a happy, welcoming hostess who loved entertaining her family and friends, attending parties and celebrations and keeping close relationships with old and new friends over the years.

Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Evie's Life at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at Sneider and Sullivan & O'Connell's Funeral Home at 977 South El Camino Real in San Mateo. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Mission Hospice www.missionhospice.org.
