Years ago I read this banner on a wall that said, "A measure of a man is what he leaves behind." The picture on that banner had a church and children behind their parent.
Mrs Josephine Akiyama, her husband in his later years required more medical attention but Ms Josephine was determined to care for her husband at home and not leave him in a nursing home. She did so until his passing. They were married for maybe 60 years (+-).

This legacy of love was passed on to their son who lovingly and patiently took care of his mother in turn with the help of some professionals. Thanks to the support of his wife Donna that allowed him to accomplish this act of love. I know that Ms. Josephine loved her son very much and wished the very best for him and his wife. Eddie is the legacy the Akiyamas have left behind. They have raised a good man.

My sweet, tough Auntie Ninang, my last of my maternal elders. Beautiful lady , alert at 95, intelligent, wise and caring. Her boldness and motivation to learn and develop her life as a nurse, a teacher, a master hair designer, a business owner, talents and more. Despite all of her successes, she held on to her Catholic faith, her belief in prayer power of gratitude and of intercession for love ones who have gone before her. This, she has left an impression upon my heart. I will miss the conversations we had that had given me confidence and courage to be part of who I am. A word of advise from her, "Ask everything you want to know from your parents and elders while they are still alive". I still have questions to ask her but now it is not meant to be.
I will miss her very much as well as the many who loved her. It was a joy to know her.
Eddie and Donna may your family and friends be a consolation to you in your times of grief. Wish David and I could be there

Dear Nina Josephine, I Never had the pleasure of personally meeting you but you touched my heart and soul through the love that reflected off of your niece Sandy. She always spoke so fondly about you; The sparkle in her eyes and the admiration and kind words of you woke up a tremendous love and admiration for you. Hearing through the years filled my heart with joy and Love. I know that you are with your family in heaven and the memories you left behind will remain a gift from your heart to theirs, until they meet you again.
I love you Nina through the eyes and heart of Sandy your niece who adored you. Lastly, when I see Sandy I see a reflection of you in her eyes and in her heart. Rejoice for the kingdom of heaven is truly yours. My deepest most sincere condolences to the Blanco Akiyama family,
Sandy Glorinela Medrano.
