Tribute & Message From The Family

Deanna Sandra Consani passed suddenly and peacefully on October 14, 2020 at her home in San Mateo at the age of 78. For many years she went to sleep listening to her beloved old time radio programs and she entered into eternal rest listening to those same programs.

Deanna was a native San Franciscan and the loving daughter of Ulisse and Theresa Cortopassi, and little sister to Clarence Cortopassi. Deanna is survived by her husband of 55 years, Alessandro Consani. They met in Lucca, Italy, and were married shortly after in San Francisco. She was Mom to Mark and Kevin, Mother-in-law to Tammy and Shawna, and adoring Nonna to Nicholas, Amber, Ayden, Ryan, Mason, and Hunter.

She was a graduate of Balboa High School in San Francisco where she served as Student Body Vice President and enjoyed planning her reunions since graduation. Her most cherished youth activity involved the Masonic youth group, Rainbow, where she met several life-long friends and served honorably as Past Worthy Advisor and Grand Lecturer in 1961. She was raised in a very strong Masonic family and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 59 years. In recent years she was very involved with the Daughters of the Nile and worked to support Shriners Hospital.

She spent thousands of hours caring for her grandchildren. She blessed them with memories of popcorn parties, baking cakes and cookies, making cooking videos, helping her entertain friends, attending swim meets, soccer games, and school presentations. She took them on picnics to the park and provided healthy snacks of sugary soda and cupcakes that only a Nonna could get away with buying. She knew each grandchild's favorite candy and snack, down to the color of the donut frosting. Most of all they will never forget Nonna's warm pastina soup that always made everything better.

Although she was fortunate to travel all over Europe, her true love was traveling to any part of her "Good Old U.S.A." Nobody stood taller for our Pledge of Allegiance or National Anthem. She had nothing but gratitude for the country that welcomed her grandparents, her father, and her husband with open arms.

She built a reputation of integrity and honor over a 25-year career in real estate, but also found time to serve as a founder and early President of the Italian American Women's Guild of San Mateo while also spending time with her beloved "Curvy Chicks" of The Red Hat Society.

She was a very private woman and over the years faced many hardships, any one of which would have broken someone else, but she persevered with unimaginable courage and strength, always reminding us to "take one day at a time, because in the end everything will work out." She was the Rock that supported our family and many others over the years. She gave much more than she ever took and was always there when needed, no matter what she had on her plate.

Her legacy is one of love and strength. It will live on through her family and friends. If there is a wish to honor her legacy, she was more than devoted to Shriners Children's Hospital and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford.

My condolences to Deanna's family. I have so many wonderful memories of our time together. We had a lot in common, both being Rainbow girls in our younger years and realtors later in life. It was Deanna's idea to join the Red Hat Society and ultimately we became the "Chics". She leaves a big void in everyone's life and will not be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

Prayers and loving thoughts to all of Deanna's family. She was so vibrant, had smiling eyes, always upbeat and happy! She graduated two years ahead of me at Balboa High. I always admired her and later in life we reconnected through Alberta Delnevo making tortas together. Her legacy will certainly be carried forward by her grandchildren she loved so much.
