Tribute & Message From The Family

Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother

Marsha Joan Aliamus of San Mateo, California, passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2020 at the age of 81. She was born on September 24, 1938 in San Francisco to parents, Paul and Dorothy Stanford. She had a younger brother, Leo Stanford.

Marsha attended Mercy High School in Burlingame where she graduated in 1956. She met her husband, Robert, through his sister, who was Marsha's high school classmate. The introduction led to their romance and on August 8, 1959, they were married. This past year, along with family and friends, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Marsha completed her nursing training in San Francisco before assuming a nursing position in Chicago for a brief period of time. She worked most of her career as a registered nurse at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City. For many years after her retirement, Marsha volunteered at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in San Mateo where she was a parishioner for many decades.

Marsha was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as "Grammie." Marsha loved to sew. She was a skilled seamstress and often made clothing for herself, her daughters, and her granddaughters. She made beautiful wedding gowns for both of her daughters and for her eldest granddaughter. Among her additional hobbies were baking, square dancing, attending ballet performances, and she was an avid fan of her children's and grandchildren's soccer and baseball games.

She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Bunch and Julie Pineda (Will), and by her sons, Paul Aliamus (Melita), David Aliamus (Debbie), and John Aliamus (Kirsten). She is also survived by grandchildren Lisa Lllewellyn (Jayson), Patrick Carhart (Rose), Bryan Besnyi, Sean Carhart (Chalon), Anthony Aliamus, Dean Aliamus, Riley Aliamus, Hailey Aliamus, Jack Pineda, Paige Pineda, and Charlie Pineda. She is also survived by great grandchildren Nicolas, Annalycia, and Evalynn Llewellyn. In addition, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Alma Stanford; her niece, Ann Marie Hauser; and her nephews, Brian Stanford and Matthew Stanford.

Marsha is predeceased by her parents, Paul and Dorothy Stanford; her brother, Leo Stanford; and only four months ago by her beloved husband, Robert Aliamus.

Due to the pandemic, a memorial service will be postponed and held at a future date.
