Tribute & Message From The Family

Born and raised in San Francisco, Ed was a graduate of Galileo High School.

Always fascinated by electronics, he joined Pan American Airlines in the mid 40's as a radio repairman, later moving to Eitel McCullough where he established himself as an accomplished radio technician.

In 1951, Ed joined Varian Associates as their 30th employee. Having completed three years of college while employed, and with the Varian brothers having recognized his commitment and talent, he was named "Honorary Engineer of Electronics" and spent the next 37 years in their Klystron Tube Division.

Always an avid hunter and fisherman, Ed spent his retirement years enjoying family, friends, travel and untold hours trying to master his computer.

Dedicated to his wife, and family, he was always there to brighten our day. He will be sorely missed.

Ed is survived by his daughter Janice Mattei , son David Galli, granddaughters Elise Kardos, Melinda Walker and Kirsten Galli, and great-grandchildren Michael Lincoln, Travis Lincoln, Nathan Green and Hailey Ho. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence Galli.

Ed will be laid to rest at the Italian Cemetery in Colma CA alongside his wife of 73 years, Florence.

Dear family, I am so sorry over your loss. Edmund had what the Bible says, was especially strong, Psalms 90:10. What is lost to us is not to our creator. He had Jesus promise us: “....the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.”
