Tribute & Message From The Family

Charles Matthew Cody, 54 passed away on Thursday, December 28th after a brief illness.

"Charlie" was born on July 29, 1963 in Covina, California to William and Sally Cody. He grew up in Redwood City where he attended Sequoia High School. After graduating from Sequoia High Charlie attended San Jose State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree followed by a Master's Degree from Notre Dame University in Belmont. He was a partner and co-owner at Star Physical Therapy in Redwood City where he worked up until his passing. One of his greatest joys at work was interacting with his co-workers and patients at the clinic.

Charlie had a personality that was larger than life. He was smart, quick-witted, welcoming, and very loyal. He always made time for those who needed a friend to talk to or who were in need of some practical, sage advice. He was passionate about autism research and regularly volunteered his time at both Notre Dame Elementary School as well as Serra High School. Charlie will be remembered for his deep love and dedication to his family and friends.

Charlie leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Juliette (Poston) Cody, daughter Caitlyn Frances Cody (22), and his son Charles Joseph (17); his brother Christopher Cody and sister Cecelia Cody; his nephews Jeffrey Cody, Landon Toomey, and Parker Toomey; his nieces Rachel Toomey, Tessa Ferrall, and Kate Ferrall; and his beloved dog Marley.

He was preceded in death by his father William Cody and his sister Colleen Cody.

A Visitation Service will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, January 3rd between 1:00-4:00 pm at Sneider & Sullivan & O'Connell's Funeral Home, 977 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo. Burial will be private.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Cody Family. We grew up in Farm Hills with Charlie and well remember his outgoing and fun-loving personality as a friend, neighbor and softball teammate. One memorable day was hiking and picnicking in The Pinnacles with Charlie and his SJSU geography classmates. We will always remember Charlie with great fondness.

Dearest Juliette, C.J., and Caitlyn,
If I could, even for the briefest of time, lift the burden of your loss, I would. The passing of the man we knew and loved has come like the thief in the night taking what is most precious to us without warning. The love he nurtured in his heart for you, C.J., and Caitlyn burned so brightly that it warmed all who were near, family or friend.
He was a good man. He was decisive, fair, creative, and humorous while facing both success or setback. He generously gave of himself whenever someone approached asking assistance.
His physical presence will be missed every time his friends or family gather. However, he is forever in our hearts and will always be with us until we are re-united with him.
