Obituary

Junko Yamamoto, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away in San Mateo, California, on September 18, 2021 at the age of 87. She is survived by her siblings Noriko, Akira and Kayoko; her three children Emiko, Taeko and Takashi; sons-in-law Ron and Christopher; daughter-in-law Karen; her five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband Yoshio, sister Michiko and brother Kazuyoshi.

Junko was born on January 24, 1934 in what was then known as Manchuria, a region in northeast China. She relocated to Kagoshima, Japan with her family after the end of World War II. In 1958, she immigrated to the United States to marry Yoshio Yamamoto. Junko and Yoshio settled in San Leandro in 1966 where they resided for 55 years. After raising her children, Junko worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for Hillhaven Convalescent Home in San Leandro for 15 years before retiring to enjoy life with her growing family. Junko enjoyed singing, doing puzzles of all kinds and taking care of her family.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Sneider & Sullivan & O'Connell's Funeral Home.
